The Queen City

Charlotte, North Carolina is named for Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, the Queen of Great Britain in the latter half of the 1700's. The name of Mecklenburg County also takes its name from her title.

But hey, it's 2020 and you'd have to be halfway to brain-dead to be pining for monarchic rule. It's just cool that the city Charlotte can say, definitely, we have royal blood in our veins (metaphorically speaking... Is a city's veins its roads or the sewers?).
